For USAG Ansbach families & TDY personnel
Off-post housing in Ansbach – furnished, and ready when you land
10 minutes from Urlas, 14 from Katterbach. A complete three-room apartment booked directly with your hosts – no agency, no platform in between: sleeps up to six, real kitchen, washing machine, and it books by the week or the month – for the stretch between arriving and moving into permanent quarters.
Who this is for
When on-post lodging is full
Ansbach is a garrison town, and the pattern repeats every summer: PCS season arrives, on-post lodging books out, and families need somewhere real to live while housing gets sorted out. The same goes for TDY stays that run longer than a hotel room comfortably allows.
You are booking with the hosts, not with an agency. We look after this apartment ourselves, and whoever answers your message is the person responsible for it. It is furnished down to the kitchenware, so you can arrive with suitcases while your household goods are still somewhere on the Atlantic. And because it is a whole apartment, six people cost the same as two: one rent, one bill.
You book directly with us. No platform sits in between, which keeps the price down and means questions get answered by the person who actually holds the keys.

Booking & paperwork
How it works
- 1
Send us your dates
Check availability online, or just write to us in English with your arrival and departure dates and how many people are coming.
- 2
We answer personally
Usually within a few hours, with a firm price for your dates. Longer stays generally come out cheaper per week.
- 3
Self check-in on arrival
A smart lock means no key handover to schedule. Access details reach you before you travel, so a delayed flight is not a problem.
About the invoice
You get a standard German invoice with VAT shown separately, made out to you or to your unit. We are a private landlord, not a contracted government-rate vendor, and we cannot advise on lodging allowances or per-diem eligibility. If the booking has to clear a finance office, please check with them first – we are happy to send a sample invoice beforehand.

Questions we get asked
How far is it to post?
By car from the apartment: Urlas / Barton Barracks 10 minutes (3.4 mi / 5.4 km), Bismarck Barracks 13 minutes (5.6 mi / 9 km), Katterbach Kaserne 14 minutes (5.9 mi / 9.5 km). Those are normal-traffic times and do not include waiting at the gate.
How do I get there from the airport?
Nuremberg Airport (NUE) is the nearest one, 53 minutes (31 mi / 50.3 km) away by car. If you are arriving without a car, there are train connections to Ansbach via Nuremberg; Ansbach station is then 8 minutes from the apartment by car, or about 31 minutes (1.4 mi / 2.2 km) on foot. The A6 motorway access is 11 minutes away.
Can I reach the shops and the old town on foot?
Yes: Brücken-Center (shopping) about 9 minutes (0.4 mi / 600 m), Martin-Luther-Platz (old town) about 19 minutes (0.9 mi / 1.4 km), Hofgarten park & Residenz about 28 minutes (1.2 mi / 2 km). By car all three are well under 10 minutes. That is worth knowing for the first few weeks, when your car may still be in transit.
How long can I stay?
Anything from a few days to several months. Weekly and monthly stays are what this apartment is set up for, and for longer bookings we can usually offer a better rate. Send us your dates and we will quote you.
Do you provide an invoice I can submit?
Yes. You receive a standard German invoice with the VAT shown separately, made out to you or to your unit. We cannot tell you whether that satisfies your particular lodging allowance or per-diem rules, and we are not a contracted government-rate vendor – please clear the paperwork with your finance office before you book.
Is the apartment furnished, or do I need my household goods?
Fully furnished, including kitchenware, bedding and towels. You can arrive with suitcases only. That makes it a practical bridge while your household goods are still in transit.
How do I get the keys if I arrive late?
The apartment has a smart lock, so check-in does not depend on meeting anyone. Standard check-in is from 4 pm and check-out by 10 am; we send you the access details before you travel. If your flight or convoy lands outside those hours, tell us and we will work around it.
Where can I park?
Free of charge on the surrounding streets, where there is normally room for larger vehicles and vans too. There is no dedicated private space or garage, so we would rather you knew that in advance. One request: the spaces directly in front of the building are for loading and unloading only – they belong to the neighbours, and we would like to keep the peace. The guest folder has a map showing where to park.
Can I bring my pets?
Unfortunately not – no pets are allowed in the apartment. We know that rules out a lot of PCS families and we would rather say so now than after you have booked.
Do you speak English?
Yes. We speak German, English and Hungarian – write or call in whichever suits you and you will get an answer in the same language. Booking and payment run through Smoobu, which is available in English as well.
Tell us your dates
Check availability for your window, or just get in touch – in English, with whatever questions you still have.
